Sammie M. Smith
PartneR

Sammie was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2007. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Texas A&M University in 1991 and a Juris Doctor from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law in 2006. Prior to becoming an attorney, Sammie accumulated 14 years of experience as a litigation paralegal, working in personal injury, civil litigation, toxic tort litigation, and insurance defense. In 2009, Sammie transitioned from litigation to focusing her practice on family law, where she represents clients in a full range of matters, including divorce, child custody disputes, termination, modification, and enforcement actions.

Today, Sammie leads the firm’s Family Law Division. She handles family law cases of all sizes, including those involving complex, high–net-worth marital estates and highly contested child custody disputes in Dallas and surrounding counties. Sammie is a strong proponent of mediation; however, when settlement is not possible, she is a skilled and effective courtroom advocate. Sammie is committed to treating every client with compassion, dignity, and respect, while providing candid and practical legal advice. She believes clients deserve transparency and honesty from their attorney, particularly given that family law decisions often have long-term consequences for both clients and their families. “I feel it is important for my clients to understand that I will always speak candidly with them, advising them on what they need to hear rather than what they want to hear.” Sammie is dedicated to delivering high-quality, personalized legal representation that balances empathy for each client’s unique circumstances with zealous advocacy for their objectives. Equally important to Sammie is making the legal process as efficient and cost-effective as possible, without requiring clients to exhaust their life savings or their children’s college funds on legal fees. This client-centered approach has earned the firm the trust of thousands of clients and one of the highest compliments an attorney can receive: former client referrals of family and friends.

In addition to practicing law, Sammie has been a certified Mediator since 2005, and regularly receives court appointments from local judges.  She is also a member of the family law sections of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Texas and the Dallas Bar Association.
